FN newsletter 05-07-2022: The latest public consultations
Readers and contributors -- A short newsletter on this occasion. Just a round up of the latest planning, licensing and public consultations that are open for comment.
Covid infections continue to rise with an estimated 3.7 percent of people in London infected, and a rise in people admitted to hospital. Please follow NHS advice to avoid catching and spreading coronavirus. Information and how to get vaccinated is on Camden Council’s coronavirus web page and Westminster Council’s coronavirus web page.
Buildings around Bedford Square were vibrating last week due to demolition work at 247 Tottenham Court Road, raising concern from a number of occupiers around the Georgian square.
A major demolition project will also start this summer at 95 Tottenham Court Road and 76 Whitfield Street. Included in the rubble will be seven two-bedroom flats -- less than 20 years old -- which will be completely demolished in order to increase the commercial property on site. It's a failure of architects Piercy & Co and property developer Derwent London to achieve refurbishment rather than demolition, and a failure of Camden Council to uphold its mixed-use policy and its declaration of a climate emergency.
