Welcome to the first FN Newsletter of 2024. I always enjoy seeing the first snowdrops in The Regent’s Park. The Royal Parks is currently seeking views from local residents and visitors to the park on design proposals for a new garden to commemorate the life of Queen Elizabeth II. There is a 10-minute online questionnaire and respondents will be enrolled in a £150 prize draw as a token of their appreciation. Deadline for responses is 28 January 2024.
The Fitzrovia Chapel at Pearson Square is now open during most weeks from Monday to Wednesday, 11am to 6pm, and one Sunday a month, from 12 noon to 5pm. Monday is a special community day and if you are part of a community group that would like to have a guided tour, hold an activity or find out more about the chapel, please let Madeleine Boomgaarden know. You can email madeleine@fitzroviachapel.org with your request. Exhibitions coming up include: Lawrence in Fitzrovia (Daily, free entry, 26 Jan to 9 Feb) Lawrence is a former resident of Fitzrovia as well as a highly influential musician; and Bowie: A London Day (Daily, free entry, 1 to 20 March). A series of photographs capturing David Bowie over the course of a single day in 1992. The Chapel’s What's On page has all the details.
Covid continues to remain a major threat to health. Infections and hospital admissions are increasing, and the disease has damaging long term impacts. Please follow NHS advice to avoid catching and spreading the virus.
